Purpose and goal

GeoLife Region will create the conditions for the smart, sustainable and viable cities / communities of the future linked to Agenda2030. 70% of today´s energy consumption and GDP are driven by cities. Soon, 70% of the world´s population will live in cities. It will affect all living things on the planet. The societies of the future must be developed to increase social capital and sustainability. This means that it is necessary to ensure that we develop the opportunities to meet the challenges of social development. through data-driven innovation and cognitive urban development.

Expected results and effects

GeoLife Region will drive new research projects and research challenges in dialogue with business and academia. GLR wamts to generate products, services, new companies and new jobs. GLR will develop new skills and make more data available, through the data lake and by doing so enable both new services and products. GLR will also develop methods and systems for personalization of data, as well as create a meta cluster linked to data and different methods this can create development, change and results through data driven innovation.

Planned approach and implementation

The development of GLR since its inception is very impressive. All players in the environment are committed and need to continue to be so. GLR fulfills its function, to build an environment in the region. GLR has developed a strong enviroment in the form of a unique data lake, Now GLR needs to continue to develop and drive cognitive city development and work for smart, sustainable and viable cities and communities.
