Venture Cluster of Excellence for Cutting-Edge Technologies - calls for proposals

Important results from the project

The project lead to the creation of a proposal for the GaMeAT excellence cluster. The project resulted in the coming together of a group of researchers from Swedish universities to work with companies and organisations from the Swedish gaming industry. A range of research topics were identified that meet the future research needs of the gaming industry, and a program to address these challenges in an excellence cluster was created.

Expected long term effects

This project has created stronger connections between the many participants in the project. This has lead to a merging with another excellence cluster to create a bigger, more ambitious excellence cluster. The project has lead to new connections that can lead to other new collaborations, for example industrial PhD projects. A new awareness of the benefit of more support for research that strengthens small, medium and large companies in the Swedish game industry.

Approach and implementation

The project held three group meetings to create the proposal for an excellence cluster. These meetings identified what organisation and activities were needed for the cluster. Also what new companies and organisations should be invited to join the consortium. The meetings also worked through the range of research issues that needed to be addressed for maximum impact in the international gaming industry.
