Purpose and goal
The project will transform the station areas in Hultsfred and Lessebo into safer, and more sustainable places during the period 2026–2028. Through innovative solutions and a focus on walking, cycling, and public transport, the areas will become hubs for sustainable mobility and contribute to increased accessibility, both locally and regionally. The infrastructure will be future-proof, and we will test solutions that can be scaled up to more of Sweden´s approximately 500 station communities.
Expected effects and result
The project will establish a transformation lab and work with 5 different themes in two loops. It will deliver input for new infrastructure and new solutions related to the themes described. The project will thus have developed plans for the transformation of the areas and conducted tests in both station areas. These solutions will demonstrate possibilities for other station communities and smaller municipalities in the country, showing how future infrastructure and places can be designed.
Planned approach and implementation
The project will be carried out in three different work packages: WP1 covers project management and administration, WP2 focuses on the operation of the Transition Lab, and WP3 deals with results and coordination. The project will be based on a transition lab working in two loops, with cross-functional collaboration between municipalities, other stakeholders, and adjacent projects. Throughout the 3-year duration, the main focus will be on testing and scaling up solutions in 5 different themes.
