Important results from the project

The goals were initially to establish framework and technical infrastructure as well as defined development, testing and collaboration processes for the lab´s operations and continuation. Furthermore, to promote freedom of choice and good and safe care for the elderly, supported by staff and in cooperation with other actors in society. Also, that the technology works in operation and benefits the elderly and the staff. In the future, the living lab in a more established version can contribute to tests of technology in a real environment and faster implementation in the business.

Expected long term effects

The staff did experince that the use of digital technology supported them in their daily work. The infrastructure with wifi and internet networks have been established. The pilot project has promoted both a good and safe care for the elderly, and an increased freedom of choice, i.e. by offering the digital camera as an alternative in the ordinary care. The use of digital medicine signing has strengthened the safety in care and the contact between the assistant nurse and nurse. Important experiences in establishing routines and working methods has been identified during the pilot project.

Approach and implementation

Inquirys was directed to a number of companies. Then it was descided to test digital cameras and digital medicine signing. Before initiating the tests wifi and infrastructure were installed. Working routines were established in collaboration with the managers at the department. During the pilot, dialogues with different companies has also been held. Follow-up and technical support to the staff in the living lab has been offered. Questionnaires and discussion groups was held to evaluate the project, indicating that the digital technology can promote safe work and new ways of working.
