Important results from the project
The feasibility study has developed parts of a digital open structure around mainly Alstoms (formerly Bombardier Transportations) Power Labs and strengthened the initiative Electrification hub linked to electromobility and electrification in the greater region. The test requirements in different technology areas and companies have been clarified and tests carried out. Data structures have been analyzed and solution proposals developed, and finally financing opportunities within Horizon have been identified, which provides a good basis for further development work.
Expected long term effects
The study has resulted in a number of proposals for concrete measures and steps for the establishment of the center. The proposals include eligibility requirements and concepts for the design of systems for safe and smart test data management, solutions for un-manned testing, collaboration within the framework of Horizon Europe and activity programs for an innovation environment that promotes start-up collaborations. The proposals can now be implemented in programs at Alstom and in collaboration with the newly formed Electrification Hub to build up the center.
Approach and implementation
The study began with a mapping of key areas for the establishment of a test and innovation center in electromobility. Furthermore, the work was developed with a focus on key areas, as indicated in the project plan, where experts were brought in to investigate needs and develop possible solutions. A number of individual dialogues and workshops have been conducted with, among others, members of Electrification Hub and SMEs, including startups to deepen and test proposals. The results were then synthesized in concrete proposals for measures and activities for the planned center.
