From needs to product concepts in deep brain stimulation

Important results from the project

Three main goals were set for the project: 1. Identify user and patient needs: Fulfilled through performed deep interviews with users, identifying 231 needs + one performed education session. 2. Rework needs to product requirements: Fulfilled through the analysis where identified needs were reworked to product requirements + 2 performed education sessions. 3. Generate & prioritize product concepts that fulfill the requirements: Fulfilled through the generation of 10 product concepts for smooth implantation and 3 full product concepts + 2 performed education sessions.

Expected long term effects

By using and educating in documented "best practice" methods, the project has identified multiple user needs. These were reworked into product requirements, all summarized in a Traceability matrix. With the product requirements as a base, concept generation commenced, yielding 10 concepts in optimal implantation (minimize tissue response and bleeding) and 3 full DBS product concepts. All worked into 3D concept sketches. The product requirements, product sketches and newly learned methods will be used in further product development activities to come in Neuronano AB.
