Purpose and goal
In an era of food security uncertainty, increasing social segregation and climate-related challenges, we need to future-proof our residential areas. “Från Källare till Kök” develops indoor cultivation in basements in million-program areas and contributes to community, health and opportunities for self-sufficiency. Property owners will receive increased utilization and safer environments. The project is being implemented in Malmö with the possibility of spreading throughout the country.
Expected effects and result
The project´s aim is to contribute to increased local food security, social inclusion and public health among residents in million program areas. In the project, we will develop cultivation for different target groups in basement premises and spread the concept to more property owners and cities, explore business models, evaluate energy consumption, moisture management and thermal comfort through measurements and simulations, carry out needs mapping among property owners and spread knowledge.
Planned approach and implementation
The project is divided into different parts with practical cultivation with residents in basement premises, development of cultivation concepts and entrepreneurship, technical analysis through energy and moisture measurements and simulations, needs mapping with property owners, concept development with manual and dissemination. The cultivation will take place in Rosengård in Malmö and has the opportunity during the project to spread and develop to different types of premises.
