Purpose and goal

The goal with Fortum Innovation Challenge was to identify ideas for next generation smart energy solutions among people aged 18 years and older in Sweden and in Finland.

Results and expected effects

Fortum Innovation Challenge has been carried out, the winners have been announced and the result of the competition has been published. A total of 306 participants registered for the competition, and a total of 59 contributions were generated; 29 from Sweden, and 30 from Finland. In addition to the potential of the two winning contributions, the challenge has generated a number of ideas for next generation smart energy solutions that would be possible to develop and commercialize.

Approach and implementation

Fortum Innovation Challenge has at the end of 2014 and the beginning of 2015 been carried out in Sweden and Finland. People aged 18 years and older were invited to share their ideas about next generation´s smart energy solutions. Five ideas from Sweden and five ideas from Finland were selected, and the finalists were assigned a mentor each at Fortum. With the help of their mentors, the finalists developed their ideas further so as to fit Fortum. Based on the developed ideas, one winner in Sweden and one winner in Finland was selected.
