Important results from the project
Yes; we developed a prototype that explores how storytelling can be integrated into digital product passports and create an emotional connection to the product’s place of origin and past use. We exhibited it to both industry players and the public and received very positive response. Industry players said that it made them think about how the industry can do things differently in the future. We have made contacts who are interested in taking the concept further into a business model.
Expected long term effects
The goal is to take the concept for our future prototype into a business model, in the first step together with a needs owner and an end customer. We have made contacts and discussions are underway to participate in Vinnova´s call for proposals on Business models for sustainable forest-based industries. If everything goes well, it could lead to changed business models within the forest value chain. We also plan to include a researcher, which provides greater opportunities to publish the results.
Approach and implementation
We worked in four work packages; 1) Explore the present, 2) Understand the future: analysis of norms/behaviors, 3) Create the future – design of prototype and 4) Experience, anchor and implement: exhibition/handover. Due to short project tim, we had to work overlapping between the packages and the whole team was involved in the entire process. Illnesses meant that we had to step in for each other, as there was no space in the schedule. The short time made it difficult to book workshops/speakers.
