Project duration July 2019 - June 2020
Status Completed
Venture Collaboration projects in cybersecurity and digital infrastructure

Purpose and goal

FCB provides full traceability in the food chain, from seed to loaf. The system handles all types of raw material production and documents the entire production with blockchain technology. This provides completely new opportunities for consumers and farmers. It also facilitates regulatory control both for the authority and for the farmer. The documentation on the farm is digitized, which provides a huge time saving and simplification as well as increased security in the food chain. At the same time, the system gives the farmer an opportunity for direct contact with the consumer.

Expected results and effects

The prototype proves that the process is entirely possible. It documents the entire production process in production with help of blockchain technology and provides full traceability from start to finish. The blockchain technology ensures that the information is not manipulated. In production, the documentation was simplified. The process went faster, the risk that checks or documentation were not carried out was excluded. In addition, a basis emerged that can form the basis for extended certifications of production. The prototype was awarded the IBM Award for Agriventure Sweden

Planned approach and implementation

The rapeseed oil production was reviewed and the flows were documented on site at the plant, by FCB´s team, together with the production staff. Measurement points were identified together with the production staff and based on the laws and regulations to which production is subject, such as laws for food production and KRAV´s regulations. The results of this work were used as a basis for programming the module. QR codes were set up in production at the identified measuring points and the system was tested (in lab due to corona)
