Important results from the project

The purpose of the pre-study was to gather key actors in the food innovation ecosystem and develop a shared approach on how to stimulate interactions between entrepreneurs, large companies, researchers and investors. The goal was to develop a process and an implementation plan based on the value proposition offered by each of the support organizations to address an unmet need for the target group.

Expected long term effects

The result was a process that could be run twice a year around different topics. Large companies, investors and public organizations will be interviewed about their needs linked to each topic. The needs will be clustered and conclusions drawn. An inspiration event (hybrid) will be created . Startups/ SMEs will be scouted and selected for a matchmaking event with the needs owners. The outcome will be gathered, analyzed and shared within the ecosystem. The expected impact is to improve the collaboration within the ecosystem (reduce sub-optimization) and increase the innovation power.

Approach and implementation

Interviews and discussions have been made with Sweden Food Arena, Agfo, Sweden Footech Sting, Krinova, FUHS, Vinnova, VGR, Formas, Connect, SISP/Ignite Sweden, Axfoundation, Livsmedelsföretagen and its R&D-reference group. The aim has been to identify as many synergies as possible meanwhile creating a significant value for the target group. The stakeholders have provided iterative feedback on the drafted process suggestion. The target ahead is to secure funding to be able to implement and evaluate the process together.
