Purpose and goal

The event aims to work in accordance with the national food strategy for Sweden and its vision of a globally competitive, innovative, sustainable and attractive food industry by stimulating collaborations and business opportunities between startups, industry and growth capital, contributing to commercialization of competitive food ideas. Measurable goals (number of participants, meetings and new business contacts acquired) were met beyond expectations. In addition, feedback from participants shows that the event is a much-needed meeting place for the food industry.

Expected results and effects

Through the event, we have created initial meetings to promote a continued dialogue about joint development needs between startups, industry and investors in the food industry. The event highlighted both the opportunities and development needs of startups as well as industry/investors, which we consider to be important parameters for increased cooperation both in a short and long term. In the event survey, 98% of participants responded that they met new business contacts during the two days, which will lead to future sustainable growth.

Planned approach and implementation

The event contained 3 steps; application and selection; pitch training with feedback from a professional panel, main event for 2 days. An important success factor for the event was the cooperation with relevant financiers, co-organizers and partners in planning the event. Through them we have been able to ensure high quality of the event by gaining external expertise and reaching relevant actors. Another major part of the success was that we committed all participants during the event - everyone had a role (panel member, speaker or presenting company), no one was "just" participating.
