Purpose and goal

The purpose of this project has been to empirically investigate economic and legal challenges related to the financing of innovation and entrepreneurship using an interdisciplinary approach. An related objective has been to communicate these results to important stakeholders, thereby making a difference for the better. How can the interplay between financing, innovation and entrepreneurship be improved in order to create more innovations, improved competitiveness and sustainable growth?

Expected results and effects

The project has been running for four years, 2014-2018 and in total resulted in a substantial amount of publications: 49 scientific papers, 17 working papers and conference articles, 18 reports, books and book chapters. The impact of this research can be measured in several ways. Results have been communicated and mentioned in the press 75 times, Ratio has organized 25 conferences and seminars and Ratio scholars have taken part in 126 events arranged by others. Among other things, the research has resulted in the creation of a separate patent court in Sweden.

Planned approach and implementation

The research has been organized into five separate areas: 1.Financing of entrepreneurship and new firms 2.Financing of disruptive innovations 3.Public support and innovation 4.Legal aspects of innovation financing 5.Corporate governance and innovation A combination of methods have been employed throughout the project. Important stakeholders have been involved through a steering committee which has been able to provide valuable input and access key findings.
