Important results from the project
The project has validated both technical feasibility and user value for a solution enabling seamless, app-free mobile communication with travellers in airport environments. A Proof-of-Concept was developed and a large-scale user study in Sweden and Germany confirmed strong perceived value when information is relevant and contextual. The project also generated key insights into privacy and user acceptance.
Expected long term effects
The project indicates potential for a new standard in mobile interaction within physical environments without apps. The solution can improve customer experiences and create new business opportunities for operators and infrastructure providers. The next step is pilot implementation and commercialisation in international markets.
Approach and implementation
The project was executed through three parallel activities: development of a technical Proof-of-Concept, a comprehensive user study, and market validation with potential customers and partners. The activities were completed largely as planned and proved complementary. Due to dependencies on external stakeholders, a live pilot could not be conducted within the project timeframe. Otherwise, the project was executed as intended.
