Important results from the project

The proposal concerned presentation and networking within the framework of our proposed project "Smart cities and Society5.0". Through the contacts that we established, as well as the conversations that were held during R&I Week 2022 , we were able to concretize our ideas about a research project that will deal with 1) Urban development, 2) Energy supply and distribution, 3) Servitization of product service systems (PSS), and 4) Globalization. We now intend to submit a seed-money proposal to MIRAI2.0 as the next step to realize this research project.

Expected long term effects

During the Mirai2.0 week, we established contact with 14 researchers from Japan and Sweden. In the WS-session "Smart cities and Society5.0" discussions were held that provided important insights for our project group. I also attended other sessions within our Sustainability track, in which the exchange of knowledge that I experienced was a reciprocal exchange with the participating natural science researchers. The result of our participation in MIRAI2.0 exceeded our expectations and we found that there is an interest from the research community for our ideas.

Approach and implementation

The MIRAI2.0 R&I Week-workshop "Smart cities and Society5.0" was conducted in a 3.5 hour format in a seminar room, where each of the five organizers (including yours sincerely) gave a 15 minutes speech, followed by Q&As. The workshop session ended with a general discussion that included the audience. Altogether, the session was wrapped up with an interesting discussion about the possibilities of digitalization for creating smart cities and the society´s energy dependence.
