Important results from the project
The EUROSTARS project has achieved the goal of developing a unique system for sustainable renovation of wooden floors, consisting of a UV-curable floor coating and a mobile UV curing unit. The surface treatment system is now being demonstrated to customers and partners in the Nordic countries, Germany, England and the United States and also at technical fairs and in trade magazines. Interest is high, however, the willingness to invest remains low, partly because of the cost of LED lights, but also due to the weak global economy.
Expected long term effects
The goal for the Eurostars project was to develop, test and validate, and market a new unique system for the restoration of wood floors that contribute to sustainable development through reduced emissions of organic solvents. The results show that the project has achieved its objective and contribute to a turnover of approximately SEK 10 million / year. The project has strengthened Arboritects market position and shows that we are an innovative company with unique new products on the market that contributes to sustainable development through reduced emissions.
Approach and implementation
The EUROSTARS project has been in cooperation with Sadechaf in Belgium, where Sadechaf have developed new mobile UV devices with LED lights and Arboritec has developed a unique UV-curable floor coating for the sustainable renovation of wooden floors. The results show that our new UV-curing coating system for wood flooring achieves customer demands for fast, high quality, environmentally friendly and sustainable renovation of wooden floors. The cost of LED lights and the weak global economy means that sales have not yet reached our goals.
