Important results from the project
Sweden is an established part in European Lightweighting Network (ELN). Sweden thus can influence the European lightweight development at policy/political level. It was the most important goal. Other goals achieved: 1. The key components of a common European roadmap and activity plan for lightweight are described, see "Executive summary" in Annex. 2. After the conference, eight countries participate in the ELN working group: Germany, Austria, Sweden, Belgium, Spain, Luxembourg, Slovakia and Poland. 3. The ELN conference in 2024 will be held in Belgium and in 2025 in Spain.
Expected long term effects
The long-term effects of the work with the 3rd ELN Conference are larger, faster and more evident than we thought. Some important results so far: * Succesful LIGHTer International Conference 220406-07 * Austrian Industry Delegation 220405-08 * British Industry Delegation 220516 * German Industry Delegation 220517-19 * Industry panel during JEC in Paris 230427 * Swedish industry delegation visit to Germany 230502-04 * Visit to Austria with LIGHTer PhD Network 230508-10 * Speaker at "No Green Deal without Lightweighting" in Brussels 230504 * Speaker at EuroNanoForum in Lund 230612-13
Approach and implementation
The 3rd ELN Conference was arranged as part of Sweden´s presidency of the European Counsil. A professional event organizer was procured by RISE. Content and invitations have been developed together with ELN´s working group with members from Austria, Germany, Belgium and Spain. A website, a graphic layout and an Executive summary for the conference have been produced. Discussions with Advanced Materials Initiatives 2030 and the EU General Directorate for Research and Innovation have been held about joint initiatives before and during the 3rd ELN Conference.
