Purpose and goal

ENCCS´ vision is to become a leading competence node for high-performance computing (HPC) that unites industry, academia and public administration in HPC and related areas such as artificial intelligence (AI) and quantum computing. The aim is to strengthen existing and potential HPC users in industry and the public sector, and to assist researchers and engineers to take advantage of HPC resources. Special emphasis is placed on strengthening SMEs through knowledge transfer and enabling efficient use of powerful HPC resources.

Expected effects and result

In the coming years, ENCCS will further develop the service portfolio and strengthen the work to reach out to and help small and medium-sized companies adopt HPC methods to streamline and accelerate research, development and innovation. This will strengthen competitiveness and cost-effectiveness for Swedish companies and authorities and establish Sweden as a digitally advanced nation that can benefit from both current and emerging technologies in HPC, AI and related areas.

Planned approach and implementation

The five main activities within ENCCS are: 1. Courses and development of educational materials in HPC and related areas. 2. Support in accessing EuroHPC resources coupled with individual advice to get you started. 3. Communication and knowledge dissemination aimed at emerging HPC user groups. 4. Programming support through pilot projects to researchers and engineers to adapt software to HPC. 5. Mapping of existing skills in Sweden and expansion of a broad contact network.
