Establishing a Swedish-Danish Innovation Partnership for Translational Treg Therapeutics

Reference number
Coordinator Cellphi Biotechnology AB
Funding from Vinnova SEK 422 908
Project duration October 2026 - March 2027
Status Ongoing
Venture Preparation projects for international application within health
Call Deepened international collaborations for healthy and resilient societies

Purpose and goal

The project will establish a Swedish-Danish innovation partnership between Cellphi Biotechnology and the University of Southern Denmark (SDU). By combining Cellphi´s novel regulatory T-cell (Treg) expansion platform with SDU´s disease modelling expertise, the goals are to establish inflammatory bowel disease models as a translational platform for validation, build a collaborative framework and develop a strategic roadmap for next-generation Treg therapeutics to attract major funding.

Expected effects and result

The expected project results include a joint translational development roadmap, a feasibility assessment of disease models, particularly focused on IBD and an IP framework. The expected effects will be an accelerated Treg therapy development strategy and increased funding competitiveness. Together, the partners will take the first step to creating a stronger innovation ecosystem capable of advancing novel Treg therapauetics toward clinical and commercial implementation.

Planned approach and implementation

The project will be implemented over six months through three interconnected work packages (WPs) combining scientific exchange, translational assessment, and strategic planning. WP1 will focus on scientific workshops and feasibility assessments of IBD models. WP2 will establish a GDPR-compliant data governance framework and address IP management. WP3 will map international funding opportunities, expand the advisor network, and support the development of future collaborative R&D proposals.
