Important results from the project

The aim of the project was to map out challenges concerning journalists´ production process and potential for improvement, to map out norms and challenges related to online discussions and to generate early ideas and areas for innovation. The project has reached the goals through identifying challenges and areas with potential for innovation that also have been verified with journalists.

Expected long term effects

The project´s results consist of a map of areas with innovation potential for a production of a diverse, including and non-discriminatory media content. Together with journalists, the project has generated early ideas and innovation areas to further develop in an innovation project. An expected effect is that the map of challenges and early ideas lead to innovation in one of the areas and that it will support a daily journalistic work.

Approach and implementation

The project has carried out interviews and workshops with journalists and other stakeholders. The workshops included 1) charting of journalists’ individual work processes 2) identification of challenges crucial for equality 3) identification of norms and challenges regarding reader comments 4) vision work and identifying solutions. By analysing the workshop documentation and interview data into themes, areas with innovation potential were identified.
