Purpose and goal

Scania’s purpose is to drive the shift towards a sustainable transport eco system. To enable more operators to use BEV trucks, we must investigate alternative ways to charge the vehicle. The project will test the Scania-Elonroad solution for dynamically charging electric trucks while moving between the ports in Singapore.

Expected effects and result

This project has extensive potential to contribute to both the FFI mission and the sub-program “FFI nollutsläpp” as the electric road system is a technology which enables the transportation industry to scale its EV transition. With “scale” we mean that when more customers can accelerate their transition from fossil dependent vehicles to battery electric, it also contributes to making the transport industry fossil free but also more efficient and safer.

Planned approach and implementation

Scania will contribute with knowledge and expertise from previously performed development projects within charging infrastructure. With this knowledge together with the experience at Elonroad, the possibility for success is significant from a technical perspective. The project will be divided into four work packages WP1: Preparation WP2: Build test truck WP3: Build test track WP4: Shipping and Commissioning
