Purpose and goal
The aim of this project was to elevate remanufacturing to the manufacturers’ strategy towards circularity and enable consumers’ access to and acceptance of a wider range of remanufactured electric and electronical products. The aim has been met by us through the development of two scenarios of remanufacturing strategies for manufacturers; Scenario 1: original equipment manufacturer with some cooperation with remanufacturer, but with reduced product responsibility. Scenario 2: original equipment remanufacturer with full product responsibility.
Expected results and effects
The results from the project shows that there is potential to improve the consumer access and acceptance of remanufactured electrical and electronic products. The participating companies are willing to go further and expand their remanufacturing business to achieve a more circular society. At one of the companies we have developed different solutions for them to start their remanufacturing at the same time as their business model and product designs are adapted to facilitate remanufacturing.
Planned approach and implementation
The project started with identifying the consumer access and acceptance of remanufactured electrical and electronic products through questionnaire and interviews. In collaboration with the participating companies, new scenarios to expand their remanufacturing business were developed. With these new scenarios we are aiming at going further and find even more partner to achieve a more circular society within the electric and electronic product sector.
