Important results from the project
Possible options to use HTC (Hydrothermal carbonisation) technology to upgrade marine biomass has been investigated and a concept sketch of a marine biorefinery has been developed. We have identified suitable work packages for a first phase of a bioinnovation project. Possible actors from the hole value chain has been identified and contacts have been taken to several of these.
Expected long term effects
In this project a cost and energy efficient marine biorefinery concept has been identified with a potential to extract the energy in farmed marine biomass and waste streams from fish farms and simultaneously produce high value products.
Approach and implementation
The work core of this pre-study project has been a series of workshops. Both with the representatives from the project partners as well as with representatives from other bio-innovation projects. Contacts has been taken with potential partners for a bio innovation project. A marine bio-refinery concept has been created and work packages for a first phase of a bio-innovation project has been identified
