Important results from the project

We believe that the project has largely met the goals we set from the start. The project has developed an AI-based tool that supports a fashion designer in the design process without sacrificing the designer´s creativity and risking IP. A designer can upload a collection and lineup in a 3D environment, pick out a specific look and, with the help of prompting, adjust fabric/pattern. The project has technically challenged existing open source image models and further developed them.

Expected long term effects

We believe that the long-term effects of the project are related to the fact that we have challenged the prevailing norm in the fashion industry, showing that something that was previously not considered safe in AI can now be done safely without risking IP. We hope that we have contributed to more people realizing the benefits of using AI technology if done in the right context and process, like in admin, patterns, price, linesheets, code systems, digital product passports, material data, etc.

Approach and implementation

The project was largely implemented according to plan with weekly meetings between users and developers and monthly project meetings. Build and Ideate were somewhat more iterative than expected and the lack of public datasets meant that we were not able to train to the extent we hoped. The Alchemist in Singapore was cancelled and we had to reschedule, instead the project was presented at Expo in Osaka, Japan. We have received more external input than originally planned which has been positive.
