Important results from the project
The goal was to find an algorithm that produces a key value for a given work cycle with a tractor, or other off road machine, that correlates to the relative fuel consumption of the work, regardless of other factors that affect fuel consumption - ie an algorithm that evaluates how efficiently the driver in drives the vehicle. This was successful and we now have an algorithm that calculates a ratio that correlates to the fuel consumption in the tests made.
Expected long term effects
Now we can use the algorithm to refine our existing products and create new ones for new markets.
Approach and implementation
The work was conducted in collaboration with JTI - Swedish Institute of Agricultural and Environmental Engineering and started of with field studies where data from different tractors were logged during operation. Based on these data various hypotheses about how the algorithm could be designed were tested. The algorithm has been verified in a program where the logged data from the field study is run through and the key figure is calculated through the use of the algorithm.
