Important results from the project
Track buckling is a severe problem during warm days for the railway. Currently there are only disruptive and expensive ways of monitoring this parameter. The project has developed and tested a new sensor configuration that in an innovative way, that later on, make it possible to determine rail stress free temperature and thus reduce the risk of a buckling can occur. The project´s objectives have been met.
Expected long term effects
The sensor configuration with associated electronics and mechanics have been designed and tested. The equipment functioned as planned.
Approach and implementation
A subcontractor specialized in this type of measurement has performed work on the prototype. The partnership has worked very well. Infranord have set up their resources to carry out test measurements. The evaluation has been conducted in cooperation.
