Important results from the project
The objective with this project is to develop a surveillance security system representing a novel approach to high-throughput safe screening of large numbers of people;e.g. on airports or at entrances of buildings and other public areas. The goal of the project is a system based on mm-wave Holography that offers the ability to scan multiple persons at real time (speed of up to 4 km/h),
Expected long term effects
The final system will cover an area with people moving freely. The acquired images are processed either in the capturing device or in a central location to identify possible objects or threat. For airports this will virtually eliminate airport security queues, which will present a unique selling point.
Approach and implementation
Main applicant and manager for the project is the company IDEAS (Integrated Detector Electronics AS) from Norway. IDEAS has main responsibility for the overall design of the system and for the ASIC used. The Finnish company DA-Design has main responsibility for the hardware to be developed within the project. The British company Holoxica will mainly be concentrating on embedded computing and communication software. LTU is the only university institution involved in this project and will concentrate on software for holographic reconstruction and detection of hazardous objects.
