Important results from the project
To develop platforms to be used in production of radioactive labelled tracers to be applied in clinicla research and diagnosis combined with Positron emission tomography. These platforms will be used to produce tracer-molecules at GMP conditions in local enviroment integrated with i.e. a cyclotron. Our spanish partner has been working with the development of a Proton laser technology to be used as trhe radionuclide production source, however we have not been able to explore an integration of a PLA appartus within the time frame of the project.
Expected long term effects
We have developed technology adapted to the use of 11C-carbon monoxide and 11C-methyl iodide to beused in synthesis of labelled tracers for positron emission tomography. These platforms have been developed to be adopted to a mini-clean room technology in order to meet requiered GMP criteria in a local radionuclide productions enviroment. So far we have only been testing the platform integrated with a cyclotron radionuclide production.
Approach and implementation
A substantial part of the work in these projects has been to explore various components and material but also to develop appropriate control and regulation for automation of routine production of positron emitting tracers independent of the radionuclide production source.
