Important results from the project

The project´s objective has been to develop a "modular, high-performance parallel kinematic machine for flexible and adaptive manufacturing." The developed machine has achieved the desired performance in many of the applications that were set as objective. New potential business areas have also been identified, one example of such a business area is high-speed additive manufacturing. The project has led to synergies with the company Vibicore, with projects such as Vinnova "Vibidrill".

Expected long term effects

The project has proven the PKM technology and taken it from lab environment to commercially ready technology. The customer application tests performed during the course of the project have created interest and confidence in the technology at a commercial level. This makes it possible to scale up and invest further, since the product has been technically proven. New interesting applications for the product concept have been identified, which will lead to further innovation.

Approach and implementation

The structure and content of the work packages originally planned were followed and worked well. Technical problems during commissioning meant that the timetable was strained at times. The complexity of getting the system to reach the desired accuracy with factors such as precision mechanics and temperature effects was underestimated. The cooperation with ELHA has gone well throughout the project. The project achieved the desired result and has exceeded performance in many respects.
