Important results from the project
During the project, an efficient, fuel-flexible micro combined heat and power (mCHP) -system was developed and tested. The system was verified for both 100% hydrogen and 100% methane. Additionally, a gas heater for commercial vehicles was developed as a spin-off from the results obtained during the project.
Expected long term effects
Fuel-flexible mCHP units for households based on catalytic combustion are planned to be launched. The results from the project have also led to a gas heater for commercial vehicles based on catalytic combustion.
Approach and implementation
The project was divided into nine work packages and a number of milestones, which formed the basis for planning and monitoring during the course of the project. In the first part of the project, the various subsystems of the mCHP system were developed in parallel. Subsequently, all subsystems were integrated into the mCHP system and tested together. The fundamental development regarding hydrogen safety became more extensive than originally predicted, and therefore the project was extended.
