Important results from the project

The goal of the project was to create an innovative tool for product development that promotes diversity and inclusion. By using VR/MR technology, DS enables a deeper understanding of various and diverse user needs and interactions. The tool is designed to identify and eliminate design barriers, leading to more accessible and user-friendly products. DS facilitates the early integration of different perspectives and needs in the development process, resulting in products that are better adapted for a wider audience.

Expected long term effects

The project has successfully developed a proof-of-concept version of a tool that can effectively identify and address design biases and accessibility barriers. The response from the user tests has been highly positive, with product design experts expressing great interest in the tool´s potential to create more accessible and inclusive products, as well as its capabilities for virtual prototyping, improved data collection, and simplified logistics.

Approach and implementation

The implementation of the project primarily encompassed UX design and software development. The software development involved creating a robust VR/XR platform focusing on fundamental architecture and functionality for user testing. The UX design included evaluating research and frameworks on diversity and inclusion, as well as conducting semi-structured interviews and A/B testing to gather data on user needs. These insights were used to iteratively improve the tool and ensure its usability and effectiveness.
