Digital twin of Sawmill for efficient production and maintenance

Important results from the project

Objective: Improve sawmills with smarter monitoring and maintenance of the production line. This is done by sharing data via a digital twin between the players in the maintenance chain. During the initialisation phase we have increased the consortia expanding consortia with more actors in the chain and added analysis of the maintenance process at both the beginning and end of the project (Smash).

Expected long term effects

During the initiation, we have built a larger consotium to create an interesting project idea (digital twin for information sharing). In addition, we have added analysis of the maintenance process at the beginning and end of the demonstrator project to confirm that the project is leading to the improvement we hope for.

Approach and implementation

The initiation project has been implemented as a series of workshops and skype calls to specify opportunities, eligibility requirements and use cases for a digital twin for the sawmill in Karlskoga and to map what information already exists. available. We also met and discussed with other parties to get a larger consortium than what we had during the initiation phase.
