Purpose and goal
The project TRANSIT– Digital transformation in the food industry - will create the conditions for food companies to take the first steps in their digital transformation through collaboration between industry, technology suppliers and academia/institutes. The goal is to increase knowledge about how digital technology can contribute to more efficient production, reduced waste, energy efficiency and sustainable competitiveness through practical analyses, seminars and demonstration projects.
Expected effects and result
TRANSIT is both a pilot study and a mobilization effort for larger collaborative projects where the stakeholders, with support from PiiA, lay the foundation for further projects focusing on a digitally strengthened, sustainable food industry.
Planned approach and implementation
The project consists of three parts: - Automation: feasibility study for "re-work", handling of food products for recycling and, in the long run, re-packaging. - Knowledge increasing efforts: how do companies make strategic decisions based on data from their own operations? - Mobilization: gathering stakeholders for new and larger collaborative projects to increase efficiency and reduce waste in the food industry.
