Purpose and goal
Teachers´ and students´ digital inclusion is one of the main purposes of this project. In the project, we have created a maker space that involves researchers, teachers and students in order to contribute to the development of teachers´ as well as students´ ´digital literacy´. In the region, the project has worked as a model and a source of inspiration for the maker movement regarding teachers´ and students´ digital development. The project has contributed to an increased awareness and skills, both in school and in the society about the value and necessity of digital innovation.
Expected results and effects
School becomes increasingly digitized and teachers face major challenges to manage the technologies they are offered. In this project, we have created a ´maker-space´ for teachers where they, through a process of Digital Didactic Design together with researchers designed their own apps that will help them solve the various forms of educational problems. The outcome of the project is three educational apps developed and manufactured by the teachers themselves. Teachers and students have also developed their digital skills.
Planned approach and implementation
In the project, 15 teachers from three schools participated in a ´Maker space´ along with researchers in didactics and informatics at Halmstad University. During the year, the teachers participated in six workshops in Digital Didactic Design where they have designed their own apps. The apps were later evaluated by teachers and students in the classroom where ideas and new solutions were tested. The researchers followed the maker space to analyze how maker spaces through Digital Didactic Design might help teachers develop new innovative technology to promote students´ learning.
