Project duration December 2016 - November 2018

Purpose and goal

edig´s aim is to radically increase the pace of industry digitization. The goal was to create a knowledge platform that offers training opportunities in relevant areas for digitization in development, operation and production. The platform edig has been launched spread both within the industry and through educational actors. The research group and the edig partners have partcipated in seminars, workshops and fairs. Within the project Smart Factories and edig have several workshops been held for industry, students and teachers around Sweden.

Expected results and effects

The knowledge platform edig is launched and contains materials such as articles, films and pod casts in the 12 defined areas. Most of the material is also available in English to reach as many as possible and to be used throughout both the industry and the education system. The project edig has reached out to many, but it will still be required to add new material in all areas to keep the knowledge platform updated with the development in digitalisation and add new functions to keep the interest.

Planned approach and implementation

The project has developed the chosen areas and how they should be structured to support digitization within the industry. Identification of company-specific needs and how the companies will contribute to the platform´s concrete content, such as films and training materials have been made. Collection of data, course material etc, and pilot tests of the platform for evaluation of the content and that it is at the right level. An important aspect has been to integrate economic, ecological and social sustainability into all subject areas based on the global and national goals.
