Important results from the project
The Agenda aims to create conditions for a sustainable business with a focus on energy efficiency in the Swedish manufacturing industry. By conducting research and development with the goal to bring together leadership, finance, production and technology for more efficient energy use that will contribute to the transition towards a sustainable business in the Swedish manufacturing industry. The long-term outcome of the work is that the Swedish manufacturing industry has positioned itself as a sustainable model , globally , by 2050.
Expected long term effects
The target is that by 2050, the Swedish manufacturing industry achieved national and international targets set for the period. At the national level , the vision 2050 a sustainable and resource -efficient energy with zero net emissions of greenhouse gases. In light of the above, we see the need for a national strategic , long-term, joint effort in energy efficiency . The need for a coherent and sustained leadership and continuity over time. Developing a common vision and a strategy that follows the long-term policy goals.
Approach and implementation
This agenda has been developed in an open process with stakeholders in the Swedish manufacturing industry. Actors from the largest industries and industries participated. The process to develop the agenda was led by Swerea. In a series of four workshops in autumn 2013 and winter 2014 companies, government agencies , academia, and industry associations attended to discuss the needs and challenges in the energy sector. The workshops have had the declared aim to connect challenges and trends with concrete and practical needs of manufacturing companies in Sweden.
