Important results from the project

Thanks to the project, the NMI has taken a big step towards the final goal of creating a primary realization of the kilogram in Sweden. Such a realization enables participation in research projects on the international arena regarding, for example, the dissemination of the new kilogram, as well as other activities related to mass. Building of competence has been a central part of the project, wich has also led to an increased activity in related areas such as gravimetry and resistance.

Expected long term effects

A Swedish realization of the kilogram will strengthen the NMI in an international context and open up for new research projects related to the mass and the kilogram. In addition, the project will have a direct impact on Swedish industry when the NMI can offer their customers traceability to a national primary realization.

Approach and implementation

The project plan has been revised several times during the course of the project, in order to utilize resources as efficiently as possible, in response to unforeseen events. Among other things, several external deliveries have not arrived on time. As a result, certain activities has been brought forward/postponed, or replaced with other activities, in order to reach the original goal. Thanks to the flexibility of the project group, the project has progressed very well.
