Important results from the project

At the start of the project, the project goal was to develop a digital twin for rock drilling. The digital twin is used to optimize the drilling process, where drilling speed and wear are weighted. During the project, a pilot-scale environment was created where drilling parameters and drill bit geometries could be tested. This environment also formed the basis for the digital twin of the same.

Expected long term effects

The project´s results contribute to most of the expected impacts defined in the project application: more energy-efficient mining, development of digital twins that enable optimization of rock drilling, and methods for handling large amounts of data collected from drilling equipment, to give a few examples.

Approach and implementation

The activities defined in the project application formed the basis for how the project was implemented and the implementation was successful. The project developed during its course and the set timetable and activities had to be partially revised. The cooperation between the partners in the project has worked very well with a great common will and capacity to move the project forward despite a partially revised structure and new activities.

The project description has been provided by the project members themselves and the text has not been looked at by our editors.
