Important results from the project
The purpose of the project was to develop, validate and demonstrate a method for implementation of production-based service business models in close collaboration with leading companies such as Metso, Scania, Volvo Cars, Volvo Construction Equipment, Saab, and others. The method allowed company-specific feedback and improvements of on-going business model innovation projects. The project also resulted in several different publications, including seven academic papers published or under review, five conference papers, and three articles for an industrial audience.
Expected long term effects
The project identified ten on-going cases of business model innovation, and developed an implementation method based on those. The method allows for companies to manage the transition to more circular- and service based offers, and thereby to enhance their competitive advantage and innovative capabilities. It also allows better collaboration in ecosystems of collaborating actors. The project has also made scientific contributions by means of multiple publications.
Approach and implementation
The project has conducted over 100 interviews at participating companies and their partners, and a large number of workshops, which allowed company specific feedback on development of business models. A total of ten ongoing cases of business model innovation was identified, which allowed the creation of a new implementation method for circular business model innovation. The project also conduced a number of open public seminars.
