Developer/Creative Technologist in residence (Egnahemsfabriken)

Purpose and goal

Egnahemsfabriken was in the final development phase of the app ´Ge Igen´ when Covid-19 struck. In the emergency, focus was on solutions that could help minimize the spread of infection and Vinnova´s Developer in Residence temporarily refocused on tjorn.allatillsammans.se, a platform that together with Tjörns Kommun and local actors protect vulnerable groups from infection. In the end, the collaboration produced both a volunteer platform, and the app ´Ge Igen´. The reuse app will be released May 1, find it on Google Play and the App store.

Expected results and effects

Main result: Ge Igen - The app is expected to increase the exchange of building materials at Tjörn for all stakeholders - from organizations to individuals. In addition to the basic function of exchanging materials, the reuse journey is also shown through project profiles. Secondary result: https://tjorn.allatillsammans.se - currently helps the Tjörn municipality and local actors to organize around the protection of sensitive groups. Potential future uses have also been mentioned as the platform is an organizational tool for local forces that can be adjusted to the most urgent need.

Planned approach and implementation

The development was done in iterative stages where feedback was integrated into each new release. This helped identify and prioritize between basic and additional functions. The agenda of the meetings included: - A live review of the most recent changes, tested on respective systems - Identification of present and desired features - Documentation of functions in backlog - Prioritization of functions for the next week via sprints Through this arrangement we kept up to date on the development, and could simultaneously do user testing and testing of operating systems.
