Project duration October 2023 - October 2026
Status Ongoing
Venture Advanced digitalization - Enabling technologies

Purpose and goal

The democratization-driven data lab will give all parties in forestry equal access to digital tools to use data-driven decisions in their processes, such as for example forestry and business. The lab will investigate and test data sharing between small forest owners and develop tools for analysis of their own proprietary data but also through integration of anonymized shared data or via crowdsourced data. The project also intends to apply methods for behavior change with so-called nudgeing.

Expected effects and result

By driving the development of new services and products within the project, in cooperation between project partners and their access to data, as well as promoting the development of data sharing, the idea is that other companies will be inspired to focus their development towards smaller forest owners and other SMEs in forestry. By also implementing behavioral change processes, the idea is that more forest owners will begin their digitization journey and start applying data-driven decisions in activities.

Planned approach and implementation

The project is divided into six work packages, the first of which is for project management and communication. Package 2, Investigation and Development for Anonymization and Linking Data for Sharing and Package 3, Analysis and Action for Behavior Change focuses on the development of fundamental issues in digitalisation, data sharing and behavior change. The last three packages are practical use cases for the development of services and products as part of work packages 2 and 3.
