Purpose and goal
The aim with the study was to formulate an agenda for research based evaluation of innovation policy programs aiming to stimulate renewal and international positioning of current strength areas with strong potential for the future development of the Swedish national economy. The research agenda identifies knowledge gaps and presents suggestions to how these knowledge gaps can be dealt with.
Results and expected effects
The results of the study will be used as a basis for formulation of several concrete research and evaluation projects, with the aim to build a better capacity to follow up results and effects of innovation policy programs. Such capacity is crucial for the ability to improve future innovation policy measures.
Approach and implementation
The study was done by researchers at CIRCLE, Lund university. The analysis was based on literature reviews (previous research), document studies, and overview of ongoing research in the field, and two focus group meetings with representatives of the innovation policy program ´Strategic Innovation Areas´.
