Reference number
Coordinator Precisiumai AB
Funding from Vinnova SEK 500 000
Project duration October 2026 - March 2027
Status Ongoing
Venture Preparation projects for international application within health
Call Deepened international collaborations for healthy and resilient societies

Purpose and goal

The project´s aim is to strengthen Swedish-Brazilian collaboration and prepare a proof-of-concept for diagnostic biomarkers for tropical viruses and protozoa, including dengue, Zika, chikungunya, hantavirus, malaria and toxoplasmosis. The goal is to combine Precisium AI´s expertise in omics, AI and biomarker analysis with Brazilian disease, diagnostic and biobank expertise, and to clarify sample access, feasibility, ethics, IP and data sharing.

Expected effects and result

The project will deliver a mapping of relevant samples, metadata, biobanks and diagnostic flows as well as a common framework for ethics, GDPR/LGPD, material transfer, IP and future commercial use. The results will include an expanded Swedish-Brazilian consortium and a concrete proof-of-concept and funding plan. In the long term, conditions will be created for biomarkers and diagnostics that can identify multiple infections from the same sample.

Planned approach and implementation

The project is implemented in four work packages. WP1 establishes governance, meeting structure, risk management and reporting. WP2 maps samples, metadata, diagnostic flows and biobank resources and identifies new potential Swedish and Brazilian partners. WP3 investigates ethics, GDPR/LGPD, material transfer, IP and data sharing. WP4 translates the results into a future proof-of-concept with budget, milestones, go/no-go criteria and funding strategy.
