Important results from the project

The Returbar project delivered, as promised, a feasibility study and communication concept for a circular deposit system for returnable grocery bags. Analyses like Life Cycle Cost, investment and profitability calculations provided stakeholders with clear decision-making support on costs, organization, and potential. Consumer insights and recommendations on deposit levels strengthen the conditions for implementation.

Expected long term effects

The project lays the groundwork for reducing singel use plastic and paper waste and promoting reuse, all in accordance with PPWR regulation. Analytical results and communication strategies support the future implementation of circular systems, inspire other industries, and strengthen Sweden´s sustainability goals.

Approach and implementation

The project was carried out through analyses such as break even calculations, scenario tests, in-depth consumer interviews for deeper understanding, and the development of a communication concept. Collaboration between stakeholders and experts ensured relevant and actionable results.
