Purpose and goal

The aim is to create good conditions for working on and influence the structure that today controls the fashion and beauty culture. Further goal is also the stylist profession and its education programs. Once the pilot study was completed, we wanted a complete plan of action for how we move forward, a structured network of organizations behind the continued work. As we wrote in the section´goal fore the project´ these contacts have been initiated and a plan is about to take place.

Results and expected effects

Expected effects of this study was to reach knowledge that we could continue working with in an implementation phase. We started with three areas, but after this study, we have chosen to cut out one of the areas, namely web magazine, when we found out that it takes a lot to keep all three running simultaneously. During this study we concluded that education in the stylist professions is an important and concrete goal to work further on. We also believe that it can be a major effort to achieve change on the prevailing stereotypical norms in the rest of the fashion culture.

Approach and implementation

We have been studying blogs, fashionmagazines, catwalks etc. to see whether the group in target are excluded or not. We have been in contact with various individuals, and we can see that people with fysical disabilities are clearly excluded and that there is a need to include diversity in the fashion culture. We have also conducted workshops with individuals who fall within the target group, to discuss the topic and get an idea of how they feel about the issue. We were after the workshop even more convinced that the field requires change.
