Important results from the project

Texten är maskinöversatt The purpose and objective was to conduct a seminar with invited "inspirers" with discussion with the participants about how value is created from areas with previous mining activities. The seminar was held at LTU on September 24, 2019 with 51 participants from the mining industry, consultants, authorities and universities. A total of 9 presentations were conducted with subsequent discussions. Invited presenters came from the UK, Spain, Sweden, Finland and the UK. The evaluation showed that the seminar was in demand and fulfilled a knowledge need in Sweden.

Expected long term effects

In-depth insights on the importance of being proactive in how value can be created by areas that have been used for the former mining industry. The participants´ insight into how collaboration and participation of representatives from the surrounding community can create added value for old mining areas. Realization that much can be done during the mine´s active time to make areas attractive. Insights on how this can be done and presentations of a number of good examples, as inspiration. An expected effect is that trust can be built between the parties in this way of working.

Approach and implementation

** Denna text är maskinöversatt ** The event was organized as a number of prepared speeches by "inspirers". This was followed up by group discussions with reporting in the large group. The preparations generated in-depth contacts between the players with continued cooperation as a result. Subsequent evaluation showed that the organization and implementation was good from the perspective of the organizers and participants. Sami representatives were missing and at the next seminar this should not be the case.
