Important results from the project

The innovation checks, which have been awarded to 110 mainly cooperative companies, have acted as a catalyst and have been an effective tool for developing competence networks, verifying and validating the conditions for innovations and developing IP strategies with support of external expertise. A full 92% of the check companies are continuing the projects and 59% are forecasting revenues within 1 - 2 years. Many are also planning new hires. 49 companies have developed an IP strategy.

Expected long term effects

The innovation check has served as a starting point for long-term development by strengthening innovation capacity, contributing to increased quality, structure and strategic direction, and creating the conditions for continued growth, collaboration and societal impact. Within 5 years, 84% indicate that the projects will generate revenue and 56% plan new jobs. Deepened relationships with other actors form the basis for continued collaborations and projects that would not otherwise have arisen.

Approach and implementation

Coompanion´s regional advisors have coached the companies in terms of development and definition of innovation and selection of procured consultants. A national team has prioritized suitable check companies and handled administration with companies and consultants. A national project manager has held the work together and reported to Vinnova. Vinnova´s current working model has required very extensive work efforts compared to Coompanion´s three previous periods as an intermediary.
