Coordinator SAAB Aktiebolag - SAAB AB
Funding from Vinnova SEK 2 345 732
Project duration July 2014 - February 2018
Status Completed

Purpose and goal

Project purpose and objectives has been achieved in development of technologies and methods for contextual decision support, focused on aircraft O-level servicing and maintenance in an operational aircraft O- level maintenance. The project has also successfully achieved two-way knowledge transfer between industry and academia, among other things through the use of clusters and other programs, border-crossing adjunct researchers from Saab at LTU, as well as graduate projects.

Expected results and effects

Results are according to plan and include models, guidelines, techniques, components, methods and frameworks for contextual decision support and knowledge recovery / feedback, and info visualization/HMI. The results increase industry, Saab’s and the academy´s ability to utilize digitalization in operation and maintenance, and to develop data-driven and knowledge-intensive and efficient decision support applications, that can meet future civil and military operational maintenance requirement.

Planned approach and implementation

The project approach has been based on scientific methodology for applied research, and taken into account Saab´s structures and processes for development and technology (innovation), providing results that are applicable in further development within the application domain, as well as from a research perspective. Based on this, and synergies with previous and clustered NFFP projects, the TRL for contextual decision support in the application domain has been raised from TRL 2 to TRL 4.

The project description has been provided by the project members themselves and the text has not been looked at by our editors.
