Important results from the project
In order to increase the use of test beds in advanced materials and production, two methods were evaluated: 1) Skills development through connected experiments, contributing to academic and industry education and interactive customer assignments. 2) An innovation challenge, where the test bed expertise supported demos of "The perfect bike pack". Connected testing and training have been demonstrated and improved the possibility of reaching test beds all over Sweden. Students, researchers and companies have been inspired by the innovation process in the competition.
Expected long term effects
Project objectives and deliverables: Ensuring connected testing at two nodes of the test bed LIGHTest Teaching material with elements of connected test beds. A competition that encouraged innovation in sustainability and smart choice of materials in consumer products. Wanted effects after the project are reduced costs, increased quality for industry and educators through increased accessibility to test beds with connected experiments and digital teaching. The innovation competition is expected to increase the public´s interest in sustainable materials in consumer products.
Approach and implementation
Two nodes in the test bed were equipped with connection options for: bulge test, hot forming, mechanical testing and curing tests and experiments have been carried out with customers remotely. In Piteå and Olofström, connection to the test set-ups has worked well, and the test bed will continue to increase the proportion of connected tests. The contestants contributed to sustainability, new material solutions and theft protection, and IP in one of the proposals was protected. Various parts of society were involved in the competition: students, researchers, companies and NGOs.
