Important results from the project

In the innovation project, a design and working prototype for a new type of ground supply box in compact design has been developed. The ground supply box can be used to provide media to aircraft parked at the gate and replaces carbon dioxide-intensive technologies. The compact design has been achieved through the development of a unique asymmetric counterweight mechanism that is separated from the equipment chamber and takes up minimal space, leading to a shallow installation depth.

Expected long term effects

The developed prototype with associated concept works well in accordance with the objectives and aim. The prototype is possible to equip for different uses and will form the basis for further customization and specialization in different applications of ground supply for airports. The compact design with lower installation depth and lower manufacturing cost making this environmentally friendly ground-supply technology available for smaller airports as well.

Approach and implementation

The project has been carried out in sub-projects with the feasibility study, preparation of technical specification, prototype design, manufacture of prototype and completed with a evaluation by real-scale prototype. Specification and design work has been iteratively conducted with feedback from partners, manufacturers and knowledgeable aviation employees and consultants. We have manufactured a test bench to be able to test different concepts before making prototype manufacturing decisions.
